Pastor Scott Covey
Scott Covey was born on February 22, 1961 in Salida, Colorado. Growing up in the Willamette Valley his heart has always been fastened firmly to the roots of Oregon of which he has always claimed as home. Scott, grew up in a convoluted mix of church denominations, doctrines and deceptions. It wasn’t until his family found Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior through the ministry of an “old” circuit riding preacher that his heart was tuned toward the things of God. At the age of 13 on an altar at First Assembly in Albany, Oregon God called to Scott’s heart regarding full time ministry. It wasn’t until years later and much running that God once again broke through a renegade heart while Scott was fishing on the Island of Kodiak, Alaska. He returned home, enrolled in Northwest University in Kirkland, Washington and set his heart on God’s will for his life rather than his own.
Scott met and married the most beautiful woman in the world Tyrene and they have two teenage sons Taylor and Conner who keep them busy with hockey, soccer, track and basketball. Scott says of being the father of two teenagers “You would think that after 18 years of being a youth pastor I’d be better at it than I am.” As a family they love the outdoors, ATV’ing and travel. Scott and Tye just celebrated their 25th. wedding anniversary and their hearts continue to beat strong for their kids, the church family, world missions and the desire to see people truly experience the love of Jesus Christ. If asked to this day about his life or ministry, his response would be; “God has been very good to me in more ways than I ever deserved or could imagine. I’m humbled by his undeniable love for me and grateful for His grace that I always find near”.

A long time ago in a galaxy far far way, in the little town of Roseburg, Oregon a baby was born like no other. My family moved to Medford when I was five years old and I eventually graduated from North Medford High School (Go Black Tornado!) in 1997. After six years of college, (no I’m not a doctor), I received my Bachelors of Science in Geography from Oregon State University in 2003.
Having been a techno-geek for many years I found myself working in Jackson County’s GIS lab after college for a short time before being hired by a local e-commerce company in their Information Technology department. I worked there for three years eventually working my way up to the position of Network Administrator. After volunteering in children’s ministries for several years I was officially hired as Central Point Assembly’s Children’s Pastor in January of 2008. I thoroughly enjoy teaching the children of this generation the truth of the gospel message and enjoy watching their relationship with Christ blossom.
I have been married to my wonderful wife Amber for 3 years. She is a wonderful blessing not just to my life but to the children that she ministers to on a weekly basis. Amber is a 1998 graduate of Crater High School and a life-long resident of the Rogue Valley. Our son was born on Valentine’s Day, 2010.

I was born in Albany, Oregon on December 7, 1951. When I was 8 years old we moved to Brookings, Oregon. Brookings is where I grew up and during the summer months I worked on my father’s fishing boat. I first accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior in the Lighthouse Assembly of God Church in Harbor, Oregon. It was in 1968, my sophomore year of high school, that I met my wife. We dated for three years and married on December 5, 1970.
After graduation from high school I joined the U. S Coast Guard and served throughout the United States for over 20 years. I retired from Coast Guard Station Rio Vista, California in 1990. But, retirement was not in my future, so I went back to work and enrolled in College. I graduated from San Joaquin Delta College, Stockton, California in 1992 with an AA degree in Business. That next year Linda and I moved to Central Point, Oregon where I went to work for the Oregon Department of Transportation. I went back to school in 1997 and received my BA degree from Northwest Christian College.
In 2001 Linda and I were praying for direction in our life and God spoke to us, saying, go back to your roots. We started attending Central Point Assembly where we have been serving in many different ministries for the past ten years. Two years ago God began to stir in me the call to ministry that I had ran from as a young man. I completed the education requirements through Berean Bible Classes and received my Credentials with the Assembly of God. God has given Linda and me a vision for ministering to seniors and couples experiencing trials in their lives.
My favorite Bible verse is Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” God has a plan for each of us, and though we may struggle along the way. He is faithful to finish the work He has started in our life.
